Sanborn Mills is a traditional New Hampshire farm that celebrates and teaches traditional crafts and agricultural practices. The gardens are being developed as part of the farm’s ethos of creativity and sustainability. I am working with Colin and Paula Cabot, and the garden team, to establish lush shrub and perennial plantings in large terraced beds. We also took advantage of niches set within stonewalls to tuck in a variety of alpine plants. A woodland garden along the streambed below the working sawmill is newly planted; future years will bring exciting new projects such as a greenhouse, water feature and hedged enclosures.
