The garden of landscape architects Elizabeth Lord and Edith Schryver demonstrate classic garden design principles adapted to a residential scale for the Pacific Northwest. Its strong bones, quality of design and craftsmanship, and well-grown plants are the legacy of the first all-female practice in the region.  I advised the Lord & Schryver Conservancy while director of preservation for the Garden Conservancy, and continue to provide strategic planning for the organization and technical assistance for garden preservation and restoration. The garden has been purchased and its future looks secure thanks to local leadership and philanthropy.
